A rented generator carries a serial number, and it's that serial number — not the contract riding along with it — that owes its next oil change or filter swap. Two generators delivered the same day, to the same job site, can sit at completely different run-hours depending on their prior rental history. Preventive maintenance is the product: a unit that stalls mid-operation isn't a minor inconvenience — it's the complete shutdown of the job site or event it powers.
Delivering and picking up a generator isn't planned like a lighter piece of equipment: truck, trailer, site access — all of it needs coordinating in advance, usually with more lead time than a simple mobile unit. Over the course of the rental, refuelling also runs on a schedule that has to hold — a unit that runs dry causes the same shutdown as a mechanical failure.
And when a generator breaks down mid-job, the fix isn't sending one truck to pick it up and a second one two days later to deliver a replacement: it's a single trip, a single stop, so the job site is never left without power between visits.
